Monitor our Seagrass!

Date: 27 Feb 2010
Location: Pulau Semakau

My first seagrass monitoring trip of the year... I was quite psyched up since it's been a while since I counted the grasses... They are no ordinary grass as everyone might have already found out... They are so important to the fact where they comprise of an ecosystem!

Here's how the transect looks like... Don't you think the seagrasses are quite abundant in this photo?

Anyway, Ria told the team to look out for this flaring (below):

Well, apparently, this is supposed to be environmentally friendly! Check out Ria's detailed post of Flaring up at Bukom...

Shortly after my survey, I decided to look around for any giant clams... The tides were unfortunately short and there were so many people walking around that even I got confused whose team members I belong to. :P Fortunately, Shu Fen came along with him. Hee...

Check out what I found!

A HUGE dead shell! Omg... :(

I've decided to venture out to the coral rubble... Along the way, look what I found again! A large water monitor lizard resting in the warm water. I must say it stayed so still, that even when I moved up to less than 1 metre to it, it just laid there...

On my way back, I spotted this pretty star - Knobbly!

And this baby volute...

A great trip! Hopefully to go on for more in the year...
